The Steps To Create A Hollywood Film - Part 2

This is part 2 of the 5 part series so if you haven't already read part 1 you should do so now. In part 1 I showed the list of the 10 steps process to get your idea onto the big screen and what to do with your initial idea.

Once you have your initial idea it is time that you put your idea down on paper, which is where a writer comes into play. If you have a writer in mind that is great, will make the next step a whole lot easier and make your journey to the big screen much shorter.

Create a Script

The next step after you have a writer in mind is you need to work with that writer to get them to create a script for you. The thing you should know about studios and Hollywood films is they will never hit the big screen if you don't have a script. Nobody will even give you a second of their time to pitch and idea, it is all about showing something more and a script is just that.

When you create a script you need to know that it needs to be good, it doesn't need to be great just yet because many networks and studios will want you to make changes and that is when you know you are onto something. A quick tip for creating your script is to put enough detail into it that whoever reads it will get a mental picture of what is going to happen. If the person you pitch your script to can actually picture what is happening then your chances of getting backed will greatly increase.

Initial showing

After you have created your script you need to get it out there for people to see. The great thing about doing this is you have done all the prep work and now it is just the matter of somebody believing in your idea and your prep work to give you a chance to put your idea onto film.

The hardest part about the initial showing is that the studio or producer knows that you are there for financial backing and without a good script your idea will get shot down 100% of the time. I know you may be thinking that you have enough money to get started filming and you have all the equipment but in reality you don't. Most Hollywood films nowadays are costing over $20 million to make so unless you have that amount of money just laying around you might need some financial help.

Ok, you are moving right along. In parts 1 and 2 we have learned that in order to create a Hollywood film you need to have an idea, get a writer, put together a script, and get an initial showing to a producer or a business studio. If you don't have all of these things you will have a tough journey getting your idea onto the big screen, so make sure you don't skip any steps. Now you know the first 3 steps it is time to learn the other 7.
